Snazzy Greeting Cards for 5 Cents Each

I miss the charm of days of yore. You know, the days when etiquette was taught in schools, where good manners were paramount, where people took the time to write thank-you cards for just about everything.

I always intend to write thank-you cards. But you know what they say about good intentions…In fact, when I got married, I had a reception in an area where etiquette was still highly expected. Wouldn’t you know, I LOST the gift list…the who gave what list. So I never sent out thank-you cards to half the people at the reception. I’m sure I offended more than one person that year.

The problem for me is two-fold. First, I never have cards on hand. Second, cards are too expensive for me to buy a bunch to have on hand. Then one day, I had an idea.

I waited until I had a coupon at Michael’s. Then I bought a Mango Frost Matstack (which is a little bigger than 4×6 cardstock) for just $4.

When I got home, I measured across the middle of the card, widthwise,

and used a sharp knife to score the printed side of the cardstock.

That made it simple to just bend the card in half without looking homemade.

Bada-boom, bada-bing, blank cards in less than 10 seconds. It was so easy and they are so cute! What is wonderful about making cards this way is that you can use them for any occasion. Thank You’s, Birthdays, Get Well Soon, or just a card to say “Thinking of You.” If you wanted, you could use a stamp to imprint the inside of the card to make it more fun. Just pick up some small envelopes at a paper store and you’re good to go!

I like this a lot better than the white card stock I’ve used to make my own. I’ll have to see if they have a stack that works for weddings, we always need those. I assume there isn’t any printing on the back, which would kind of ruin it, but lots of craft paper has.

Yes, these are fantastic! And no, there is no printing on the back. I bet you’d be able to find a lot of options that would work for weddings, though I think this particular pack works for anything, even weddings. I loved this idea.
